Default "speed too fast" citation

Is it worth requesting a contested hearing for a "speed too fast for conditions?"
We were recently in an accident, pulling a 2-horse trailer with one horse. The roads were clear and dry. Speed limit was 65mph. We were doing 55mph. We drove over a small bridge that was rough and bumpy. Evidently it had iced over already as well. Between the bumps and the ice and the horse losing his balance, we lost control of the vehicle. The two separated after jack-knifing. The trailer tipped over on the highway. The truck rolled down into the ditch.
It took several hours to get everything cleaned up. By the time the officer arrived the roads had also become icy, but they were NOT icy at the time of the accident.
Should we argue this ticket?
Thank you.
