Can Anyone help me? Auto accident
Two days ago I hit a young man who ran onto my lane very fast. I was in
the center lane. He ran in between idling cars in the first lane. I was driving approx 30 mph as my lane was clear. I was slowing down approx 100-200 ftfrom a red light which was visible. It happened approximately 5:00pm clear skies. I was not on my cell telephone and my radio was not on. I was travelling fom work to home. As soon as I saw something running out inbetween cars I slammed on my brakes. He got past my passenger side of car, center of car and then hit my hood and smashed into my winshield (sitting incar) left side. I have a clear driving record past 3-5 years and not much on it after that. He flew into air and landed in the clear left turning lane. I did not just switch lanes. I was in that lane for at least one or more miles. He is/was approx 6'2" and wore approx a size 12-13 sneaker. He was conscious but not moving. He told plain clothes paramedics he was 12 years old. He didn\'t have any ID or cell phone and was rushed to a local ER. I was not ticketed. I believe he is dead- Police will not let me call Hospital as they say he is minor. CSI took my car and driver\'s license and said I could driver and gave me a case # card. I have approx 3-5 witnesses to attest to the fact that he ran out in front of me. I will need therapy as I have never hit anyone before. Do I have legal recourse against this family as I do not believe they should collect monies against my insurance. Thank you |

He can be sued if he was acting negligently!
What do the police say about this? |

Certainly, you do have, moreover, if you can accertain the cause of his weired action. Does Autopsy report discloses some Intoxication.
He is a minor, so yes, his parents are liable for his Torts. Thanks, Avish |
