Question Miscommunication

About 8 months ago i was involved in a vehicle accident. On an icy morning before dark, i was driving home from work and slid into another vehicle. Thinking that i diddnt bump into it hard enough to cause any damage I just focused on getting out of the busy intersection and drove the few blocks further to my house, parked my truck in the garage and went inside. Since it was dark in the garage I diddnt see that my left front headlight was busted out when i passed by it on my way to the door to leave the garage. After a few hours i needed to leave again so i went down to the garage and opened the door so I could back out. Now that the sun was up and light was shining into the garage i discovered that my headlight was damaged. I drove back to the scene of the accident hoping that the other vehicle was still parked there so I could see if it had damage and to leave my information. When I got back to the scene however, the vehile was not there. Luckily a week later the accident department of the Lubbock Tx police department contacted my parents by mail and said that someone that had been behind me in the intersection had seen the accident and had called in my lisence plate number. Since my dad was the primary owner on my pickup and i was just the co-buyer his address was where the letter was sent and it just said that i needed to contact the accident department. Upon contacting them i just gave them my insurance information so the other party could get the ball rolling on the claim, and she told me that the officer that investigates the accident may issue me a ticket upon reviewing my case for a hit and run. After about a month i haddn\'t heard anymore about it so i figured that the officer diddnt issue me a ticket after all. Upon getting some vacation time at work i went to visit my parents for a few days. I picked up my normal stack of mail that i usually have waiting for me and thumbed through the usual credit card offers and ect., but I also found an envelope from the Lubbock PD. It turns out that the officer did give me a ticket and i had been summoned to court 2 weeks before. I gave them my home address when i contacted the accident department so i thought surely they would send any information about the accident to me, but it had came to my parents like the previous letter. I need to resolve the issue, but i dont know if i can just go pay a ticket or if there is a warrant for my arrest and ill get put in jail. What should I do?

Default Re: Miscommunication

It would be best to hire counsel, have them set up a new date and negotiate a resolution due to the confusion.

You don't want this to turn badly for you however and it could--so counsel is advisable.
