I was rear ended - the other driver who hit me won't talk to his insurance company
Hi Everyone
I was rear ended on 8/20/2007. The only damage to either vehicle was my rear bumper needed replacing. I told the other driver after exchanging information and he admitted fault that I would be getting this repaired and would not be paying for it through my insurance company. I reported the incident to my insurer, his insurer and got an estimate all within a few hours of the accident. I am a licensed driver in the state of MN, the man who hit me is a licensed driver in the state of North Dakota. The damage to repair my bumper is approximately $800. In the meantime I spoke with the adjustor at his insurance company after they received the estimate, she told me it was very straightforward and anticipate approving my claim but need to wait to speak to their insured. The only problem is now that he won't return the phone calls to his insurance agent or the adjustor working the claim. Where or who can I go to do I go to get this moving along? Can a person's drivers license be suspended if they refuse to cooperate with the insurance companies investigation? Will the other insurance company assume that I assume financial responsibility if I pay for the repair out of pocket and ask for reimbursement? |

Your insurer should handle all of this for you.

No reason, I left them a message a couple of days ago and haven't heard back. I will ask them to pursue. Thanks so much for the response.

So far there is still no resolution in site. My insurance company is trying to go after the other insurance company and said they would pay for the repair less my $500 deductible and list it as not my fault, but the other driver still won't talk to his insurance company. The repair estimate is at $783, and I feel totally screwed that I didn't file a police report. We called the local police department at the time of the accident and they declined to come out since we thought the damage was less than $1000, the vehicles were drivable and there were no injuries. Now it still almost seems like this other guy is going to get off because he won't talk to his insurance company.
