I was at a complete stop waiting to exit a parking lot when a woman backed into me. She was polite and I received all of her information. We waited for the police to file a report but after three hours the police were a no show. The woman decided to leave. She offered to handle the repairs out of pocket instead of going through the insurance. How long do I have before I cannot file a claim? I want to be nice and allow her to pay for the expense but I do not want to get jerked around. What should I do?

You can sue her in small claims for a year or two or more--but frankly if she does not pay asap then it may be best to file in court.
