Yes you can sue for pain and suffering and emotional distress, although the tort option you chose might affect that. If you have full tort, there is no issue. If you have limited tort, you will need to fall under one of the exceptions. You can also sue for property damage as well.
There are a number of things which should be done immediately. You need to get medical treatment to document your injuries and you should also have photos of the damage to the car. You also need to talk to a personal injury attorney.

Yes when you met with an accident it not only the monetary loss, but emotional and physical also. Lawyers can at least help to recover your damages.

Of course, you can claim compensation for pain suffering and emotional distress under the head of Tort laws. You can claim for compensation by filing a personal injury claim under Tort Law. But remember you have to adduce cogent evidence in order to win personal injury cases. It is better advised you may consult with a Personal injury Attorney who can give a proper guidance in this regard.
