I was driving my friends truck last year an got into a car accident.. the other drive told me just to pay hid deductible an that was the end of it, my friend told her insurance company that she was at a store an came out an someone had side swiped her so that her insurance would fix her car... now a week ago she calls me saying that the other guys insurance is trying to get there money for the damages to his car an she said they want me to pay it. but they have no police report or anything. she said they were going to contact her insurance company to make them pay an if they do that both will come looking for me to pay both damages... but i dont see how when she told hers that she got hit when she was at a store so they dont know about the accident an no reports just a lot of word of mouth... can they come after me or are they just going after the car owner?

Hi,
I am newbie. I think in difficult cases where fault is at issue, several vehicles were involved or unusual circumstances surrounded the accident (bad weather, construction, etc.), the adjuster will generally contact those involved in the accident, including drivers, passengers, witnesses, and possibly the police officer who came to the scene to get accurate details of what really happened. The claims adjuster may conduct interviews, either in person or by phone, research traffic laws where the accident occurred and review photos of damage and hospital records to collect additional information. Once the adjuster has all the information, the claim is sent for processing and payment. Again, you’ll have to complete a certain amount of paperwork and may have to meet with an adjuster in this scenario. Thanks www.dirmannlaw.com |
