Default Lawyer doing nothing

My husband was in a car accident at the end of last year. Since the accident he has been hospitalized for 18 days and 7 days, has undergone 5 surgeries to include having a rod placed in his leg, and is in constant pain. He has suffered a traumatic brain injury as well.

The problem is the lawyer seems to be doing nothing and is saying before he can do anything my husband has to be healed. They are saying it will take up to 2 years for the tbi to heal. He has run out of insurance benefits for therapy and this is hurting his rehab as we cannot afford to pay for it ourselves. I saw in an article that waiting until the injured person is healed is a sign of an unexperienced attorney. My husband hired a friend of a friend and I feel he is getting the run around. He has incurred almost $300k in medical bills to date. The lawyer also says that we are going to have to settle for the limits that the other person has because you never know how a jury would decide. My husband will never be the same and has gone through a lot of pain. Please help.

You should have a second opinion given to you--and perhaps even consult the state bar--something does not seem right and you may need to change lawyers.
