Hit & Run... Can I ring the police station to find out what is going to happen?

car accident/ hit & run wed evening
Just wondering if anyone has been through this before... On wednesday evening I was coming home & an out of control car doing about 90 in a 60 zone smashed into some barriers beside me, he in the left lane, I in the right lane. His ute bounced off the barriers & went into a spin, he straightened out & hit my car right in the rear. I was only driving 50k's, he would of been going about 80k's... anyway I flung forward so hard in my seat & lost control of my car, but I managed to straighten up again as I wasn't going fast. Anyway, he then controlled his car & zoomed straight past me, didn't even stop to see if I was ok, & the last I saw of him he was weaving all over the road. So when I got home I rang the police, lucky I had enough calmness to keep repeating his licence number, so I'd remember it when I stopped the car to look at the damage, & calm down.. by the way there were heaps of cars behind me that witnessed it & no-one even stopped. So, that evening I made a formal complaint, I was very shaky & upset. As the police were here taking my statement, a call came in that they had the guy. What happens now? Can I ring the police station to find out what is going to happen? I just want to make sure that something was done about it, & he doesn't do that again. That night I felt fine, maybe a slight sore neck, but that's all. The following morning, the bottom of my neck/ top of my spine was paining & aching so bad, it hurt to sit or lay. I went to the doctor & he said I had sprained ligaments from the impact. Today I woke up & it was 100 times worse, pain from my shoulder to my other shoulder, my neck keeps on cracking when I move it, my head feels heavy, I have pain in the tops of my arms, my jaw is sore to eat, aching, headaches, the pain at the bottom of my neck is excruciating, I have slight chest pain, pins & needles in my arms if I rest - say on my arm, has anyone experienced this before? Is this just from a sprained ligament or more? I had to pick my daughter up from work tonight & I was so scared to drive, I nearly cried. Even as I type this I have pain travelling down to my elbow, is it worth going to another doctor or back to my doctor? Or are these the norm for a sprained ligament on the back? Thanks

Yes call them. They will let you know what is happening.

And if the pain is serious consult legal counsel to see if you can recover from the guy or his insurer.
