Default Insurance Company/Lost Wages

I recently got hit by a drunk driver from behind at a stop light. my car is considered a total loss by the insurance company which means they will not pay for a rental (i am younger than 21, so renting one through my parents still doesn't work.) The insurance company has still yet to decide liability for the accident (though it's quite obvious.) I was about to start a new job at the museum hauling the portable planetarium to public schools using my personal car. Now this is a no can do until I can come up on the money owed to me by the insurance company for my car.

Am I able to gain some/if any compensation money for lost wages?

Seriously, any information would be helpful. I've googled for the past hour and cannot find anything specific to my situation regarding work related vehicles and lost wages. I was just kind of hoping to see if anyone has been in a situation like this one before.

Default Re: Insurance Company/Lost Wages

Normally no--you have to try to speed the insurer along but you just have to figure out how to deal with your transportation. If your policy did not require a rental, they don't have to do so.
