Question Inaccurate speedometer reading for ticket

I was reading the section on fighting speeding tickets. I am not guilty....no really, I'm not. I was wondering two things that were not addressed in the article. One, the venue for my court appearance is 400 miles away. Do I have any options on moving it somewhere else?

Second, I believe that the speeding was related to my vehicles inaccurate speedometer reading. It was a vehicle I had less than a week and I am fairly the certain the speedometer is over 5 mph off. What is the laws view of this? As far as I knew I was not speeding but in reality I may have been. Is there any case law on this?

get a mechanic or expert to testify for you if you believe it is off...but you may still be liable for speeding unfortunately (though it would offer a partial excuse)--you normally will not get a court to agree a change of venue on a speeding ticket.

if it is too far from your location.. the best way and only way to have another chance of winning the ticket is of course "Trial by written decloration" Call the court and they'll send you. You will fill it out and send it back by the date specified.
