My 11 year old was hit by a car...

Hi, my son was in a cross walk when a driver turned left and hit him. He was riding his skateboard, but had the right of way (a green light) and was 3/4 of the way across the four lane street! He hyper-extended his right leg and ankle. My medical insurance covered the two times we went to the doctors, I only had to pay $25 each time for my co-pay.

He was on crutches for a week and in a full leg brace for about 2-3 weeks. He now says he feels fine. And his doctor gave him the okay to return to P.E. at school. I did loose a day at work and his skateboard is a bit torn up also.

My total out of pocket is about $275. The ladies insurance told me to send all reciepts to them when my son was better and then they would offer me a settlement. My question is what would be a fair settlement?

Have a thorough exam done to make sure no long range injuries may exist.


But very roughly people sometimes use 2 or 3 times medical costs as a guide.
