hit and run

I was involved in a hit and run accident in PA. I ran from the scene of the accident and apparently the other person stayed and called the police. The police came to my door that morning and stated that they believed I was involved in an accident and based on the damage and the hubcap they found I agreed. I had a horrible headache the next morning I woke up so I went to the emergency room and they said that my brain was swollen which they said meant that I had a concussion. Well upon my arrival home the cops had called and said they wanted me to come into the office which I obliged. They tired to get me to give a written statement but I had a temporary cast on my hand. So they just continued and never asked me if they could record the conversation, but said in the police report with the prelimenary hearing they said they did and I refused. When the cops asked me about the accident I didn't even know where it was. I thought it was a complete street over from where it actually happened. I don't know what to do because I have no money for a lawyer and I feel that the accident wasn't my fault because of the damage to my vehicle it would have been impossible. What are my options? or likely hood of punishment from the judge?

At least arrange a public defender and do not speak further with the police without a lawyer present.

It would be best to hire private counsel if at all possible.
