Hi Everyone,
I am trying to purchase Townhouse in Pennsylvania. I made my offer ($220,000) but after that, seller's broker has contact my mortagage bank and ask "I can be eligible for more loan (for $232,000 - I assume this will be their counter offer price)." My questrion is Is it legal that seller's broker can contact the bank for asking buyer's loan eligibility without notifying buyer and/or buyer's agent? Thank you |

Unethical in my book. I would report this person to your state's real estate commission and also the real estate multiple for a definitive answer.

It might be legal but it's not even close to being right. It's none of that brokers business if you qualify for more than the offer that's already on the table.

A mortgage broker acts as an intermediary whose brokers mortgage loans on behalf of individuals or businesses.A mortgage broker handles the buyer's real property loan. Mortgage brokers handling specific types of property sales, including foreclosed properties and houses selling for less than the mortgage loan, have influence over the title company selection when the property listing requires the use of a specific title company.Traditionally, banks and other lending institutions have sold their own products. However as markets for mortgages have become more competitive, the role of the mortgage broker has become more popular. It might be legal but it's not even close to being right. It's none of that brokers business if you qualify for more than the offer that's already on the table.
