My landlord owes the IRS
My landlord has agreed to sell me the house that I have rented from him for years in Texas. The house is in his mother's name. She died 9 years ago. My landlord is the sole heir. My landlord owes the IRS and a federal lien has been filed against him. I have confirmed this. I've been advised that I can buy the house from the estate and that the house will never have to be in his name. How does this work? Thanks.

That is normally true--the estate can sell it to you.
But you need to have a real estate lawyer assist. You don't want to get caught up in tax or other situations that you may not be aware of in those circumstances. The cost should be nominal for the peace of mind. |
