Unhappy property line battle

I want to share with others the tragedy and story of our home that has never been a "home sweet home". Five years ago we were given 5 acres of land as a wedding gift in which we constructed a home. While our neighbors watched us clear the land and prepare it to put a home there they never said a thing. One week after we moved into this home we found out we were being "sued." I want others to be aware of our situation because you will not have the support from others even if you did all the proper permits, deeds, followed tax maps, insurance companies, banking and townspeople, surveyors etc - these same people and documents will not back you up.

As we still battle this issue 5 years later, it’s now our "home" that we are trying to win and uplift to somewhere else. This piece of property has been my fathers for 35 years, he’s paid taxes on it and has had no support either, the judge ruled this portion of land is no longer his and obviously this is the land my home sits on. We have endured our lives being threatened, sexually harassed, and harassed again and again. When we look to law enforcement for assistance, they don’t want to get involved, as it’s a "civil matter" the courts “will take care of you”.

We did not purposely put a home on someone else’s land. There was no bad intention. We were just a newly married couple wanting to build a home a life together instead of enduring such madness, we are hard working civil people and have lost out on five years of our life. The constant stress and wonder has taken its toll and when you are in the hands of the court system you are at their beck and call. During the one conversation I have had with my neighbor throughout all of this, we gave him our sympathy and told him we did not purposely take anything away from him, we have all lost out, its been a money thing from day one and his response was he just wanted to threaten us and take it all away. Reasoning with this person is non-negotiable because we even tried to buy the land that my house sits on… one acre for $100,000 just to be able to keep my house where it is.

We have paid for this home many many times in lawyer fees and are no further ahead. The judge may award our home to the neighbors. Any advice? This has been going on for far too long.
