Confused Breach of Contract

I signed a contract two years ago with a local franchise for services. New owners took over the company several months ago. The new owners promised our old contracts would be honored as the contract was with the company and not the previous owners. We were not required to sign new contracts. Fast forward several months. The new management wants us to sign new contracts as they no longer want honor the old ones. This basically means they want to drastically raise our prices. Nowhere in our contract does it say such changes can be made. They're giving us one month before they raise the prices. If they raise the prices without our permission, that's a breach of contract. Can they force us to sign a new contract?

What do we do?

Default Re: Breach of Contract

They cannot do that until the contract expires or ends...

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior...

World Law's lawyers could probably intervene and help resolve this if need be. You may email them on the home page.
