Iam a licensed contractor in California. 1 Year ago this month (Feb) we started a job for at the time were very close friends, everything was going well until they started wanting quite a few extra things done and of course not be charged for it. Well anyway they said they were going to have the other stuff, the extra stuff done by someone else, so we said ok but you guys need to hurry and get them in here to do it ( Plumbing and electrical) because they were holding us up on finishing, we were suppose to drywall as soon as everything was done by the others. So anyways we were paid for less than half, for what the agreed price was and also it was agreed on that we would be in and out in 4-6 weeks. And that is impossible since it is now a year later and no one has done anything I mean anything to the house and they still owe around eight thousand dollars. The icing on the cake their son had a cell phone through me and agreed to pay me every month...(the apple doesnt fall far from the tree), and guess what he ran the bill up to 500 bucks, so I shut the phone off and havent seen a dime!! Im so pissed at the whole situation. Any advice? Thanks

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior...
