Commercial Lease expiration

I had a commercial lease that expired in November 2007 that stated 1/2 of the lease payment would be applied to the purchase price if purchased before the lease expired. The buyer did not arrange financing ahead of time and has continued to make payments to me. Now the buyer claims half of the additional payments have to be applied to the purchase price also. I disagree and figure I could claim they have no credits to the purchase price because the transaction did not take place before the lease expired. Can anyone help me with this?

That would seem to indicate the first expiration is the deadline...and you can argue that.

Are they saying the lease has not now expired? If so you have to check how that clause was drafted??
