Unhappy is employer responsible for transportation to and from europe?

An oral contract stating employment for 3 months included transportation to and from Europe. The employee quit before the 3 months but gave proper notice and found a replacement. Is the employer still responsible to get the ex employe back to the US?

If the contract said the worker could quit before 3 months then the firm must pay.

But it seems doubtful it said that. More than likely they needed to work three months.
