Confused Cruise Ship Contract

I paid a deposit of $1200 for a cruise from a brochure I received. The brochure spelled out the included cruise features including air taxes. There was no mention of fuel surcharges. So first I was charged a fuel charge which I consented to and then I received another trip update where they were adding on $42 in air taxes. Once I have put down my deposit, how can they keep changing the prices?

Default Re: Cruise Ship Contract

That's the catch, until the cruise fare is paid in full (100%) they can make additions and modifications to your fare. The Florida Attorney General sued Royal Caribbean for upcharging the passengers that had already paid in full because the announced the policy would go into effect on February 1, 2008 but they added the charge to everyone that had not yet taken their cruise. Just from fuel surcharges, they made $22 Million Dollars in a little over a month. To add insult to injury, the passengers that had already cruised, they refunded the surcharge to their credit card, the ones that had not cruised yet, they gave a refund in the form of an onboard credit........meaning the money still came back to them!!!!! The best advice I can give folks is to pay the fair in full on your credit card if you can then the additions will end.....at least here in Florida.
