Confused simple contract question

if a person has been contracted from July 1st to September 1st and the contract permits the person to be absent from july 8th to july 26th when is the person expected back?

...on the 27th normally but you should agree with your employer and not get into a semantic argument over that.

If they say the 26th then come back then.
