I purchased a S corp consulting firm from a willing seller. My attorney was
asked for the most tax advantageous approach to the sale. He never mentioned an \"asset\" sale, which I have later learned from my new CPA would enabled me to avoid paying with after tax dollars, but rather could write off the sale amount over 15 years. I could have avoided more than $200,000 in tax liability over 5 years. My attorney is with a big Boston firm, he consulted his tax \"expert\" and still did not raise this option. Please advise. Thanks. |

He should have known that. You could meet with them to talk about why that was not offered and if they feel they may need to reimburse you as to some costs.
