Is there a statute of limitation on frauduently representing yourself as an attorney?
( 1 ) People involved: There are 4 involved I' m the oldest Sister ( 1 ), there's a Sister ( 2 ) , Sister 3 and Sister 3's boyfriend ( BFD ) The BFD has resided on property for almost 18 years. ( 2 ) Background: I have an age difference with (2) & (3) so we have never ever have had any sibling rivalry we had nothing in common to bicker about . My mother always had everything that was in her name put in mine also, banking account , vehicles etc I guess she felt for safe keeping. Little did I know (2) had jealousy bottled up inside. My mother passed away 13 yrs ago and (2) had assumed that I was with holding money . We three inherited the estate with 3 homes on it (2) has tried every way to get me off the property, the police even got tired of her calling. My notice of the hearing of the will was intercepted so I didn't get to attend it. I live a little more than a acre from the mailbox. With out knowing at the time everything that was sent to me I didn't receive, so I couldn't comply to things that I didn't know about I'm sure was the reason behind it. ( 3 ) This is the issue as of now: The BFD and I got into a heated argument concerning property matters, he feels that since he's been here for so many yrs that he has as much say so over it than I do. Which he probably does the way laws are now. He had told me that if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have the property. He informed me that after my mother passed away the property was going through escrow. He said he dressed up in a suit and presented himself as our attorney and got the property out of escrow. ( (I was just told this two days ago, thirteen yrs later ) ) Of course I can't get any more info from him on ( who ,what , where and why ) what he says is true that is. I really don't want to cause the force of sale right now, being the shape of the market. I looked at some of the sales in my town and it doesn't look pretty. ( 4 ) Questions: (a) Wouldn't I have to sign any agreements concerning matters of the property? (b) Where do I look for recorded documents pertaining the property? (c) Is there a satatute of limitations for fraudulent representation? (Acting as a lawyer) (d) Any oppinions or advice? Thank you very much for your time. Sis. It is a criminal law violation in virtually all states.
Your local DA will confirm. |

What State? Depending on the state the statute is 6 yrs for a felony which I'm sure that is. If they haven't already charged you. If they have charged you then the statute is placed on hold. Go to your states website and see what their statute of limitations are for felony's or mis. . That would answer your question.
