Defamation
I sent a friendly email out on yesterday to everyone that was on my distribution list. A disgruntled ex co-worker received the email and replied to me and cc'd to everyone on my distribution list. The things she said and accused me of are awful. We both work for a major hospitality chain and I'm not sure if I should file suit against her the company or both.

Your ability to file a suit against her will depend on the contents of the email, and more specifically, whether the comments were true or not. The statement made must be false and cause harm to the reputation of the person about whom it was made. In US law, it is widely considered that if a statement is true, that will provide an absolute defense against a claim for defamation.
