Default Ex New York Lawyer Pleads Guilty In Client Theft
A disbarred New York lawyer has pleaded guilty in the theft of nearly $140,000 from clients, Manhattan prosecutors said Thursday.

Manhattan prosecutors had alleged that Howard Blau, 69 years old, abused the confidence of several long-term clients whom he first met through pro bono representation he provided through the Jazz Foundation of America and the Actor’s Fund of America.

“This lawyer’s dishonesty is wholly at odds with what we expect of members of the bar,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said. “Today’s conviction holds the defendant accountable for fraudulent conduct that caused serious financial damage to his victims, who entrusted him with their personal affairs and bank accounts.”
