Ten years ago I was working as the financial manager for a person that committed bankruptcy fraud. I was charged with misprision of a felony, failure to report a crime, as I was knowledgeable of his actions and did not report them to the authorities. I was young, poor and newly unemployed (I was told by my attorney to resign the position) so I pled guilty and served a years probation. It is considered a felony.
My question is now that I am older and wiser I would like to pursue a law degree however on all of the law school applications they ask about previous convictions. Is a person barred from becoming a lawyer if they have been convicted or pled guilty to a crime? Thank you very much for your time. |

That will be tough; some State Bars when reviewing your application will not admit you.
