Lawyer now sueing me for $$ after poor representation
I retained a lawyer for a divorce. He read the letters my wife's lawyer had written. Then asked me if I would like it if he wrote a letter that would make her go bizerk. Sounds pretty good was the lawyer's comment. I, being completly nieve to the situtation agreed. I never seen the letter nor did I ever feel that the lawyer aided my case in any degree at all. From my point of view the lawyer just upset my wife, she retained a better lawyer and prolonged my divorce. I had paid the retainer and began making payments to the lawyer and never seen the letter that he agreed to write.
I have since found a lawyer that has treated me with a sound ethical disposition and all is working well in that regard. However, the original lawyer that had made a mess of my situation is now sueing me for 'his services'. I was told that I can still 'fire' him and I won't owe a dime more. Is this true. I find this lawyer to be unethical in the manner of how he handled the predicament. Do I have a leg to stand on? Thanks. |

You can let it go to court and explain your dissatisfaction and/or ask the State Bar to help mediate the fee situation. Have good records and explain each and every problem.
