Does that answer your question? My starting pay at 25 was $210k in this firm. I will be leaving the country permanently after this year. |

No offense, but thats definitely bs. I work in a law firm, but I don't do actual court dealings. I have friends who do that, their starting pay was maybe 150,000. A good friend of mine whose worked at this law firm for 20 years still only makes a bit more than half of what you claim. And its one of the biggest law firms in the NY area

800,000 USD is not unusual at the senior income partner or junior equity partner level, which would take a minimum of 6 years of practice. The most lucrative careers for a lawyer are at top tier private law firms (Ropes and Gray, Wilmer Hale, Goodwin Procter, Bingham, etc). In Boston, 1st year associates start at around $125k, and 4th year make $230k. From there you can become senior council, which usually caps around $250k or so, or you can make income partner, which starts around $350k and after a few years can be as high as $800k. Annual bonuses at this level can range from a few thousand dollars to $100k. The next step up is to equity partner. Equity partners can earn between $1-2 million per year, but it takes at least ten years to get to this level.

In General, if you get into a big law firm then you can make a lot of money. Now a Days, Patent Attorneys and Corporate Law Attorneys are paid much better than the others.
