Question Statute of Limitations - Legal Malpractice - NYS

>> What is the statute of limitations in NYS for legal malpractice?

In 2004, without permission from an elderly couple [whose documents were involved] or its POA, a NYS attorney disclosed the contents of wills and other important documents.

The disclosure led to the premature death of the couple in 2006-7.

Now, the same attorney is acting as the estate attorney.

I only learned about the disclosure 2-3 mos. ago.

Thanks for helping me out!

Question Re: Statute of Limitations - Legal Malpractice - NYS

Unregistered, would that be three years from the date of the occurrence, or three years from when I learned of it?
