Default illegal questioning by detective?

I am concerned about my son being questioned by a detective. He was called and threatened that if he didn't submit to questioning he would be "turned in to the DA" and so went down and submitted to questioning. The dectective told him he wasn't going to be charged with anything and told him the questioning was only for "another case" and his information would be very helpful.

Well now my son is being charged. Can a lawyer get his statement dismissed? I was told that cops are allowed to lie and can get information any way they want. My son is only 16. Does any of this matter since he is a minor? A lawyer told me that while what the detective did was unethical it would be his word against my son's and my son would lose because they never take a teenager's word over a detective.

Get a lawyer involved asap and frankly any time there is any questioning like that going on, a lawyer should be involved, for just this reason.
