No Show Lawyer

I got a summons to appear in court for Disorderly Conduct on August 13th.
I went to a lawyer and he told me that he would make an appearance on that date to enter a plea of Not Guilty and I didn't have to be there.
Then wait for a letter from his office telling me of the trial date.
On the 18th the Police arrested me and threw me in jail for failure to appear.
It cost me $500 to get out and a bunch of hassle.
He took my case and copied my materials and when I asked him how much it would cost he said it would be under $500 and when it was over I pay him.
I agreed.
Since it is Saturday I left 3 messages for him and I have to appear for the failure to appear on Monday at 9:30 AM.
His office opens at about 8:30AM.
Should I just go into court by myself and tell them what happened?
I don't really have a choice here it looks like.
I don't have enough time to get another lawyer before I have to appear for not appearing.
What should I do here?

Yes you should do that. And report the lawyer to the Bar and seek a full refund. He could even be sued for malpractice if you wish.

He aplogized for the error and had my case dismissed and did not charge me anything.
Also, he is getting the charges expunged without fee,
Looks like I made a little over $100 an hour while I was in jail condsidering what he said his fee was gonna be.
I guess it all worked in my favor.
I told some people about how it ended and they were astonished that he even admitted the error yet alone did the work free and got it all dismissed.
Might be hope for lawyers yet.
