Public Intox Indiana

Hello. I was recently arrested (Oct 13, 2009) in Tippecanoe County for public intoxication while attending college. I graduated in December and am currently pursuing different career opportunities. While the timing of my immature actions were terrible, I have still not been charged by the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor. In about a week, that will make it 6 months. I know the statute of limitations in Indiana for a misdemeanor such as this is 2 years. The interesting question that I have is this. Why have people that were arrested 3 or 4 months after me had their court date already with charges being filed? I think for this petty crime 6 months is a long time, especially it being my first offense and a diversion agreement will be on the table. I am scared that the timing could ruin my interviewing process. Anyone have any advice? Is there a possibility they will drop charges since I am no longer in school and living over 100 miles away?

You --or your lawyer even better--should call the clerk of the court and/or prosecutor and/or the officer involved and see what is the status. It is not likely they will drop it without some reason.
