Can they make me pay a 350 dollar fine in Minnesota if they say I took an earring from Walmart?

Soundd like they are blackmailing me or they will tell the cops. Isnt that illegal???

Nope its perfectly legal its called "Civil Demand" and state law. Unless you want to see that amount triple or even go into thousands due to law suit then pay it. You can learn more about this at forum site just for these issues I have linked here

Visit the website Retail Theft Answers • Index page there are topics there that explain this law very well. Once you read you may rethink the extortion opinion. Just as note retailers lose over 13 billion each year to shoplifting alone and thats not even the biggest part of their loses!
