distribution charges

My sister has a warrent out for her arrest for distribution of Marijuana, she sold 1 oz to a person who had to make a deal to save himself. We found out she has not been doing this on a regular basis but the one time she did she got caught. It is her first offense. Will this be considered a misdermeanor and will they seize her car which was purchased for her by another family member but is in her name. She will be turning herself in.

Make sure you arrange a lawyer!

If possible it is much better to make sure you or she gets private counsel to try to keep this off the record eventually--jail time is not likely if her record is clear but having that arrest and/or a conviction on the record could make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision or even be completely dismissed etc. It is easier for counsel to negotiate than for you.
