Shoplifting laws vary by state. There are also other issues that might apply that could reduce or increase possible sentences. Try asking same question at site below but list state

Make sure you hire a senior, reputable criminal law lawyer and often if your record is clean they will negotiate it down to court supervision and that's it. Do all you can to keep that off your record as it will haunt you for life if not removed one way or another.
