alcohol citation (consumption not possession)

I received an alcohol citation (consumption not possession) yesterday in Texas -- I am a minor, and I also have a clean record. What will happen? And will this present problems when I get a job?

Hi there. You will most likely be punished with a fine, alcohol treatment (probably having to attend 12-step recovery meetings and getting your slips signed), plus community supervision (i.e. probation). Based on what you have stated I would not expect to see any term of confinement (no jail time). And yes, unfortunately this can have a negative impact on future employment and educational opportunities. The good news is that the offense occurred as a minor, which greatly limits how it will show up. Hope things work out. AJJ
