Default False Alarm 911 Call on June 7, 2009

I believe I was unjustly treated by police during a recent false alarm - 911 call. The police did not immediately verify my identity as someone who should be there with the person who accidentally made the call. I was searched and detained in handcuffs in front of the house in view of the entire neighborhood for quite some time. It doesn't seem right. I have sent a letter to the supervising officials of the 3 police officers who responded to the call to investigate their actions. Do I have rights, or can they just do this at will?

Unfortunately until the police can verify what is really happening they do have the right to detain and even cuff anybody at the scene. Sometimes it is not clear who is even the victim when the police first arrive.
