raided but not arrested (calif.)

my friends house was raided by the police, ice, and it looked like the swat team, there were 3 names on the warrant for marijuana drug sales. ok one person was arrested but he had a warrant which turned out a mistm., but when they arrested him he was also charged with cultivation but the charge was rejected in court and his warrant was served time so he was released. Well they also took ounces, money, pipes, plants, growing equip. etc., but this is from his friends room but he was not charged and his name was not on the search warrant, there's more but is this ok for them to go to that room if his name was not on warrant. they thought they had proof of sales that is why the warrant was issued in the first place and another important fact the to guys had a medical marijuana id and certificate to grow and smoke medical marijuana. Now the other 2 names on the warrant were females they were in the house and the police suspected drug sales but nothing was found on these 2 females so no arrest was made, they took all that stuff but the person arrested was rejected, the person with all the stuff that was removed from house was not on warrant and was not arrested. But when they tried to get a release of evidence from court they were told the case is still open for the 2 females to be charged for the drug sales remember nothing found with them but the police said they had some evidence for proof but still did not arrest anyone for drug sales. How long can this case be held open for the charges against the 2 females and what can still happen to this case do you think it is over or do they still need to worry about being charged. The one female that they thought was the main reason for the warrant is physically handi-cap and bed ridden due to serious illness. Everyone is waiting to see what is going to happen next, everyone thinks that the worst is over but i feel it is not over if the case is not closed yet, what do you think could still happen, why is this case not closed and when will it be, do they have a chance on getting all the things back. It was all written down and signed by police. please help with some knowledge about this case.
