Registration is free and does have its benefits.
For example, if you weren't registered, you couldn't subscribe to a thread you posted to or get Private Messages in response. This meant people could only reply to you in the forum (even if it wasn't really appropriate) and you had to remember to check back for any replies. See also... Why should I register?
