spouse being aloud to adpot

hi i am from ontario canada, i have custody of my daughter for the pass 4 years my ex is suppose to be paying me support but never has, he has visitaion at my discression but has never once tryed to see her and he never showed up at court whe i went for the custody. i have been living with soem one else for the past 4 years and he would like to adopt her. how do i go about doing this ? do i need my ex's permission since he has been totally absent in her life for the pass 4 years . please help me with this issue i don't knwo where to begin

Normally the other bio parent does need to approve yes.

If he does not come around at all now, maybe the thought of not having child support obligations will encourage him to approve.

i have no contact with him adn have no idea where to find the bio father how do i go about getting him to sign over when i don't have a clue where he is
