Daughter pregnant and thought abandoned

My 30 year old daughter is prenant and hasn't heard from the birth father since he learned of her condition. He has another child out of wedlock that he does not support. My wife and I are already raising a 6 year old by this same daughter and have no desire to raise another one. My wife has a sister and brother-in-law who can't have children of their own. They have one adopted daughter who they adopted at birth. The child is 11 and she is a wonderful child as the adopted parents are great parents. They have also expressed a desire to adopt our daughters child. We thought this a great solution to our problem. But. now the birth father has somehow learned of the adoption plans and is making trouble, saying he doesn't want let the child be adopted out. The father hasn't been around and even had our daughters cell phone disconnected which was in his name. He had the right to do that, I only mention it to show his total disregaurd for her situation to date.

What is his legal rights and what should we do?

He can object to that but a court can overrule him in some situations as well. So you may all want to see if something can be agreed, but if not take it to court.

You would want to have legal counsel involved in this type of situation.
