Was this a state agency? Or a private adoption service? More facts of the "why" and how this adoption came about are needed in order to frame an answer.

Why was the child removed from your home? You mention him going into "the system" which presumably is foster care. So for some reason you and the father were found unfit.

Nobody can force you to sign anything. You could have refused. In all likelihood the judge may have terminated your rights anyway. Whether you sign or not, it's typically a permanent deal.

Sounds like you were in a bad place. You were given two options: allow the adoption and terminate your parental rights, or have the child put "into the system". You chose the adoption.

Once parental rights are terminated, that's IT. It's a permanent, and often irrevocable solution to what sometimes is a temporary problem. If it can be proven that you were threatened or coerced, or if the adoption was done in a fraudulent manner, only then might you have a possibility of reversal -- and even then, it has to be done in a very short time after the adoption took place. However, what is NOT grounds for reversal is a parent who simply regrets the choice they made to allow the adoption, which I believe is where you are sitting.

I am sorry that you were put into the position of giving up your child for adoption, but unless the circumstances warrant it, there just isn't any reason to reverse it and allow you to get your child back.
