I was born in 1987 in Arizona my birth mom just handed me over and the adoptive parents. The adoptive family signed my birth certificate, my biological parents never did. I have since met my real parents and some things never change they still don't want me. I was told this info by my birth mom. I want my biological parents on my birth certificate. Its important to me. How can I do this? Are there any consequences for my birth parents? They won't sign it on there own so I think it will have to go to court. I have looked for adoption records just in case and of course there are none.
Thank you in advance. |

I wish to inform you that you may have to petition in court for changing name of your parents and for proving paternity. In this regard the change of name of parents can happen only after paternity is proved in court. You will be required to show that name of persons on your birth certificate is incorrect and therefore must be changed.

If you want to have your biological parent’s name you have to first petition to the court for change in name. But at the same time they will have to prove the paternity. You can bring to the attention of the court that your adoptive parents’ names are shown in the birth certificate; you want to change the same with your biological parents’ name. If the court is convinced in their paternity and if your request is genuine the court will pass appropriate orders.

It's another good example of the term "no good deed goes unpunished". I would never adopt a child for this very reason. These children grow up to be resentful, spiteful ingrates who are entirely too focused on revenge for being "unwanted" rather than focusing on the fact that people who did not have to put in the effort or emotion chose to financially and emotionally support them. Why would it be "important" for biological parents who do not want their child to be listed on one's birth certificate? No, there are no "consequences" for the birth parents. Sorry, but you can't exact revenge against them in that way. They cannot be forced to sign anything and unless they sign it, it ain't happening. Get over it, grow up and stop acting like a ungrateful baby and show some respect to the people who did not have to take you in but chose to, and gave you a home. Your biological parents were and are not capable of being parents. The sooner you accept that and move on with your life the better off you'll be. |

Not all adopted children are "resentful, spiteful ingrates who are entirely too focused on revenge" I too am adopted and this has never been a secret in my family. I have never searched for my bilogical parents or wanted to know anything about them and have always been so so greatful for having being chosen by my mother. She was and still very much is an amazing lady who grew to be my best friend. I hurt every day due to her passing from cancer a short time ago. Shame on you and your comments on adopted children. You clearly haven't met many in your life and spend far too much time watching movies. |

I don't know who you think you are to say that. I am the one who posted that. My adopted parents were very abusive in every way. I would have been thankful if I wasn't beat everyday and molested by the father.I have to live with the scars I left at 14. My motherwas sleeping around that's why she gave me up. I think you should watch what you say especially when you don't know the whole story.
I am ungrateful for them. Quote:

When a child is born a birth certificate is issued with the bio parents names on it. If you are subsequently adopted a new birth certificate is issued showing the adoptive parents names instead. The original still exists. In SOME states adoptees can now get those.
Google it and see if your state is one of them. This will not change your name. You will need to petition the court, legal aid may help you. |

Except that my mother went to the hospital under my adoptive mothers name and my birth parents never signed my birth cert. They just handed me over literally. That is why i ask if its illegal. There are no adoption 0papers at all period. I dont want to cause them problems. I just wantthem on there.
