This is an odd situation. My Boyfriend at the time & I had a baby last year. However, he was going through a divorce at the time. Being a scared young woman, I didn't put him on the birth certificate or give the baby his last name. I was scared that something could happen with his divorce, (which i know now was stupid & nothing could've happened). I was wondering what it would take to get his birth certificate & name changed to the right thing? As long as he & i both agree that our son is in fact OURS, would it be pretty simple? Would we have to have a DNA test if both of us agree that he's OURS and don't want one?

I hope by now you have contacted the municipality that issued the birth certificate and asked them how to go about doing this. I was able to have my son's name changed on his birth certificate two years after he was born. He was issued an mended birth certificate that shows the original name and the corrected name.
