Default adoption in Brazil

I have a friend of a friend in Brazil who has a 5 month old that she wants me to adopt. Is there a legal way I can do this? Would the adoption be in Brazil, and then we immigrate her to US? Or would US laws apply? I am a single woman living in New York, with another residence in Florida.

Default Re: adoption in Brazil

You will have to do that through the laws and agencies of the state of New York. It takes time.

But it can be done...your county clerk can probably also direct you to local information, instructions etc.
