Mirapex class action and other lawsuits
By WORLDLawDirect  [July 9th, 2008]

At least 200 North Americans have contacted lawyers in California and elsewhere about joining class actions that allege Mirapex caused them among other things to gamble, shop, paint and eat compulsively.

More lawsuits seem likely against the drug companies Pfizer Inc. of New York and Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. based in Ingelheim, Germany.

Some news reports claim that "people have become compulsive about every day tasks such as knitting and painting their homes. We have people who have painted their homes 10 or 15 times over in the course of two months. ... And these are people with no history of this type of behavior."

Pfizer has referred requests for comment to Boehringer Ingelheim. Boehringer Ingelheim manufactures Mirapex. It contracted with Pfizer to market the drug.
